Happy Birthday Dad

I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to my dad who would have turned 64 years old today. He pasted away 3 1/2 years ago for lung cancer. He was a fighter and fought until the last second with all of his kids and my mom surrounding his bed side. It was a painful death and I would not wish that on anyone. My dads name was Joseph Paul Rivera and he was one of the hardest working men that I have ever met. He could fix and build anything. He loved his kids (All 13 of us) with all of his heart and worked hard to make sure that we had everything we needed. Some fun memories that I have of my dad is him coming to my track meets at school and yelling "run like the wind". He was my biggest fan!!! He also loved to bring us into the garage and have us do push-ups even when we did not want to but he always rewarded us with money. He loved my mom and loved to give her a hard time about everything. He was very strict with us and no guy was good enough for any of his girls. Well, that was until I met Mike. He liked Mike from the very start. I think that my parents secretly like Mike better than me.LOL! I will never forget dancing with him on my wedding day and him telling me how proud he was of me. It makes me sad some times knowing that he is not hear to see Kylie and Britain grow up. I know that he would have loved them and spoiled then rotten. But, it is comforting to know that they will meet in the next life.

Happy Birthday Dad/Papa Joe...

What a sweet tribute to your Dad. I'm sure it's still hard to not have your Dad here, but aren't you so grateful for your testimony and that you know you will get to be with him again and your kids will get to know him. What a great picture of you guys at your wedding- you look beautiful and I'm sure he's still very proud of you!

ok, so I didn't expect to look at your blog and cry today...but that is ok. I think it is great that you can write about him and talk about him...it is a way to honor him and a way for your kids to know your love for him. I know how it feels not to have a grandparent around to see their grandkids grow up obviously, but like you said...they will be able to be together again! Love you guys!!

Jessett,
I know it will be a sweet reunion when each meet and greet him again. I am so grateful you love your parents as much as you love Michael... that's a winning combination. Also, we feel your love, respect, and kindness each and everyday. We love you all, Mom and Dad Allean
