My First Half Marathon.. 13.1 Miles BABY!!!

I DID IT!!! I RAN 13.1 MILES!!!

Back in January the thought of running a half marathon seemed IMPOSSIBLE. As I started training I grew to LOVE running. It was literally one mile at a time for me. The first week I could barely run 1 mile with out stopping. By week 6 of my training, I was running 4.5. After that I seemed to just love it. I guess they call that the "runners high" or so that is what I hear. I would run around 20-25 miles a week and it felt good.

The day of the marathon I was nerves, but so excited. The first 3miles were rough for me. I was just getting my body warmed up and there were a few crazy hills. After I was warmed up the miles seemed to FLY by. Mile 6,7,8 and 9 were great. At around mile 10 I was getting a little tired, but that is right when I saw Mike and the girls. WOW... Talk about a burst of energy. I felt so relieve to see them. It made me excited to push through the last three miles.

Once I could see the finish line (around mile 12) and here the people cheering I knew I was almost done. I rounded the final corner and the first person I see is Mike, then my girls and then Mark and Danielle and all there kids. The feeling that I felt at that very moment was indescribable.

I loved training and running in this half marathon and I am excited for my next one in June. That is right, i said it. I am doing another one. I loved it and I hope to beat my time of 2hrs 33 minutes.

If I could do this ANYONE can.

Already to go... 6am check-in!!!

Crossing the finish line.. I was feeling happy/tired/emotional and excited to be done.

Great job! I never liked running before I started training for my half marathon. It's amazing how when you commit to training you can change your mind about running and grow to love it. Good luck on your next one!!
